The Kerem Tunnel is a great location to go on a hike or ride.
The Kerem Tunnel, Israel's newest bicycle tunnel, has been constructed as a part of the 42-kilometer cycle route which is a loop around the capital.

The tunnel is located along the Nahal Refaim-Emek Mostza route. The tunnel's southern entrance is beneath Ein Laban in Refaim Park.  נווה פריצקי The northern entrance is found in Nahal Ein Kerem.

נווה פריצקי The 2.1-kilometers-long tunnel project was officially inaugurated in a ceremony held on Thursday that was attended by Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Ze'ev Elkin Mayor Moshe Lion, Gihon water company chairman Avi Baleshnikov, and a slew of cyclists.

Jerusalem was once a major tourist attraction due to its rich history. Elkin said that apart from its rich history, modern tourism is also incorporated into the city of Jerusalem. "The launch of the tunnel project is another milestone in the advancement of Jerusalem as a tourist destination for all types of travelers throughout Israel and all over the world."

Elkin who, through his ministry and the Jerusalem Municipality led the project, stated that his ministry "invests hundreds of millions of shekels annually in the development all aspects Jerusalem's tourism and the design and operation of new attractions, ventures , and other attractions which connect the rich past of Jerusalem to the future". The project was financed by Elkin's ministry as well as the Tourism Ministry. It also included the budgets for the Jerusalem Municipality and the Gihon Corporation. The project was done by the Jerusalem Development Authority.

In the 90s In the 90s, the Kerem Tunnel was excavated to relocate the main sewer line from Gihon Corporation to the Sorek purification plant. It is currently used as an infrastructure tunnel. It houses the fifth water line which is operated to Jerusalem by the Mekorot water company.

Road construction, installation , and testing of safety and electrical systems are just some of the ongoing works to ensure that the tunnel is secure for all year.

Kerem Tunnel Kerem Tunnel provides access to unique recreation locations, including Ein Kerem neighbourhood, the Biblical aquarium and zoo as also the historical natural springs Ein Haniyeh, Ein Laban, and Ein Haniyeh.
